BACK
TO THE
BASE:
i
add some ballast rock and a rough dry brush to bring out some detail. |

|
MORE
SHADING:
The
Ochre is shaded on the face an shield. |
|
The
doll and his umbilical cord are paint ivory as a base - keeping him
neutral helps him stand out against the other colors as he is the focal
point of the entire figure and the main "magic" element for the character.
the equipment
on his back is based a metallic brass. A
lot of people like NMM (non metallic metal) shading on metals. though this
is really cool sometimes and i do use it, i believe real metallic look
better in small figures.
NMM
technique looks like an airbrush painting when you can't reproduce
metals in print. just a personal preference. |
 |
the
umbilical cord is painted purple-pink since it has a "gut-like" feel.
the
screws holding the doll are based brass. |

 |
the
cord is shaded and I add pink threads to the doll and face which contrast
nicely.
The
curly shapes on the horns are based a purple-pink
|

 |
I
Add a first thin black wash into seams and edges to bring out the shapes
and contrast. about 25% black to 75% water.
the
glass tanks on the back are shaded a lighter green. also the mace head is
shaded. |

 |
a
bit more shadow lining is added and pinkish hi-lights given to the
horn shapes and shield threads.
(notice the continuity of the pink shade going from the cord up to the
horns.)
the hair
is given a coat of black
I "save"
again with matte varnish.
|

 |
Time
to move the figure on to the base, which has now been dry brushed with
several gray shades with hints of color reflections.
The
Shield is glued to the figure and he is posed, but not glued to the
base.
Tomorrow
I will add final details...
